Get Involved
Join the MovementEvery year, millions of children in the U.S. live in homes overwhelmed by crisis—poverty, job loss, homelessness, or illness. Too many families face these challenges alone, without a community to lean on.
That’s where Safe Families steps in—and where you come in.
At Safe Families for Children, we believe that everyone has a role to play in keeping children safe and families supported. Whether you open your home, offer a helping hand, provide essential resources, walk alongside a parent in need, or make a financial donation, your participation with the Safe Families movement matters!
Will you be a part of the solution? Learn how you can join our Circle of Support and make a lasting difference today.
“My name is Austin, and I am a single dad. I have a one-year-old son, Asher, who was hosted through Safe Families for Children for over a month. I was living at a sober house, and Asher couldn’t be with me there. I needed help and didn’t know anyone I could reach out to. It’s been amazing working with Safe Families. They loved my son and helped me get housing and get back on my feet. They have literally kept my family together.”

Take In
Be a Host Family
A Host Family opens their heart to temporarily take in a child whose parent is walking through a difficult time and builds a relationship with the parent. A hosting can last a few days or up to a year. The goal is family reunification. We believe that when parents are supported, children can thrive.
Show Up
Be a Family Friend
A Family Friend wraps support around a parent and walks alongside them, offering friendship, encouragement, and support. This can include transporting parents to an appointment or interview, transporting hosted children to school or visits, making meals, providing babysitting in the host family or parent home, or meeting a mom for coffee
Give Back
Be a Resource Friend
A Resource Friend provides tangible items to families struggling with life challenges. We all have extra items or unused articles, such as clothing, baby items, household products, furniture, etc. Donating these items can help meet families’ critical needs.
Step Up
Be a Family Coach
A Family Coach coordinates and oversees hosting arrangements. They ensure children are well cared for, support parents in achieving their goals, and help families connect with community resources. Family Coaches walk alongside parents, assisting them to regain stability and get back on their feet.
